Meet the Principal

Royal Oak Middle School Principal

Hello Royal Oak Middle School Students and Families,

It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Royal Oak Middle School and to join this extraordinary school community. I hope that this note finds you enjoying the rejuvenating days of summer and that you and your families are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together in September. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them a world-class learning environment.

I came to Royal Oak Middle School from Troy Athens High School where I served as an Assistant Principal for the past three years. Prior to Athens, I was a social studies teacher with Clarkston Community Schools and the Brandon School District, and am looking forward to starting my 16th year in education at Royal Oak.

In addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a wife and mother. My husband, Jeff, and I live in the Royal Oak community ourselves and we love that our son, Jeffery (J.J.), will eventually attend school here. He is 18 months old and keeps us very busy! Family is extremely important and I will bring that value with me as I serve this school and our wonderful community.

Over the last few months, my conversations with district staff and families brought me privileged insights into the core beliefs and values that underlie Royal Oak Schools. With my goal of continuing the tradition of excellence here at Royal Oak Middle School, I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members.

To our students, I cannot wait to meet you all! I hope that you are excited for this upcoming school year and that you are out having fun and reading tons of books with your friends and family. It is going to be a great year learning together.

In closing, please know that my door is open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022-2023 school year.

One final note, communication will be forthcoming on all dates/times for our back-to-school events.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer and Go Bulldogs!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kristin Meldrum
